The conference will focus on the resurgence of economic nationalism and protectionism around the globe and its impact on the multilateral trade system and efforts to promote sustainable economic development during a time of climate crisis and transition. Dedicated sessions will examine the trade and industrial policies of the United States, the European Union, China, India, Brazil, and other emerging economies, assessing their effectiveness and strategic impact on the multilateral trade framework and sustainable development objectives.

Why Cambridge?

Cambridge, England is home to one of the world’s great universities – the University of Cambridge.  Nestled in the heart of the United Kingdom, near London, Cambridge offers an unparalleled learning experience in a medieval environment that will inspire and motivate you.  The city straddles the historic Cam River and is home to gothic and Romanesque buildings, pubs, theaters, museums, restaurants, shops, book stores, and coffee houses.  The Cambridge community is made up of multilingual faculty and students from all over the world who partake in academic and social life in a collegial environment.  Cambridge is well-known for its great minds and contributions in the sciences and law (Newton, Darwin, Coke, Lauterpacht, and Hawking) and is the ideal venue for study and discussion of topical issues in international politics, economics, law and policy.  The program will take place at historic Trinity Hall (the law college) in Cambridge, where participants present and discuss papers in a medieval collegial setting and enjoy the experience of learning and networking in an environment where faculty, dons, fellows and students have interacted for centuries.
